It ironic that you, of all people who got a GC through EB1, are questioning the importance of intellect over physical labor. It is no secret that human civilization has progressed and prospered only because some people have thought hard and attempted to invent new things. And the current EB preference system clearly reflects that importance of intellectual advancement to any society.
The cabbie or the waiter, with due respect their profession, is a mere cog in the wheel; a facilitator. But you my friend, the high skilled immigrant, have the ability to innovate and help your society progress. You have the education and understanding that can be passed on to future generations.
It is not to say that the waiter cannot invent, but the fact of the matter is five years on and he is still waiting tables.
I wonder if you were waiting in limbo for five-six-seven years, would you have still made this callous remark?

Anyway, you are mixing two different issues. The Nepali guy came to the US on diversity grounds (no matter what his education is). US law promotes diversity, meaning faces from all over the world. Family and Employment are other two categories. In EB category, of course, higher education stands higher priority. Family and Diversity are diffrent categories with criteria.

My PD is April 2 2004 EB2 (US educated for the idiot who tried to divide us b/w US and non US educated)
As a token of appreciation - I have contributed $100 to IV just now.Receipt ID: 1467-8132-5592-9911. Request all of those who get GC this month to contribute some $ amount. Although I was not very active in the forums I have contributed at least $400 to this cause and I will do the same in the future. Please do not try to divide b/w EB3 EB2 US educated etc. which I am noticing lately.

Question to IV core...
After receiving the standard email respose from the congressman/senator...I am wondering are they even aware about the legal immigrants. All we are getting the standard template which is talking about only illegals and DREAM.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I plan to take care of the Canada landing on the 4th of July. Will be in Canada for a week and spend some time with friends and family. Hopefully all goes smooth. I plan to re-enter on AP - will post my experience here.

Please begin the process of getting permit from the city to do this in the time-frame and route mentioned. But please move the date to either saturday July 14th or July 21st.
People wont be able to come tommorow so this must be done July 14th or July 21. Also, the rally should not be about just the July bulletin. It should be about backlogs and numerical caps as the root cause of this mess.
But do get city permit for around 100 people (that's what I expect will show up in Bay area based on past experience with Gutierrez rally).
Let's get some attention from CEOs of Oracle, Cisco, Sun and Google and also some attention from Rep. Zoe Lofgren and Nancy Pelosi. There couldnt be a better place than Bay area to do this, especially San Jose.
Let's do this.

2. Please contact your lawyers to see if they have contact in AILA.

In that case I have to ask you this - what makes you think I am "imposing" (whatever THAT means) high standards on myself? Were you trying to shoot down my arguments by false accusations? I am maintaining the same "standard" as the next guy.

So again, if you're simply trying to shoot down what ever I am saying, well, I really can't stop you. I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.
I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003
Please help.

I am so truly sorry to hear of the passing of this gentleman and why there just has to be a compassionate visa introduced.
My dear husband passed very quickly with this horrendous illness, my prayers and thoughts are with the family, god bless

I think we should have a poll for DC rally and it should be on IV home page so that every visitor know about it and poll.
There are a lot of people in DC like me. The permissions depend on which part of DC we want to rally.
Do we want to rally around the capitol meet congressmen and senators in the immigration sub committee?
Do we want to go to offices of USCIS and DOS and request to consider the first VB?
As some one has said, there has to be a poll on the home page and if we have to tip off media ahead.
