I have read many bills in last year and a half. There are a bunch of such bills pending..The problem is that they just stay pending...Unless that gets placed on the senate calender introducing the bill is useless...

The application was filed with CSC as all nos., which I have seen, are WAC nos. EAD was issued from CSC on (and I am guessing here) 18th, left from KY (40701) on 20th Sept (according to post mark) and reached my house on the 22nd Sept. If it was India and if the post man had delivered this to me, I would definitely have given him something for "mithaai" :D
It was only 3 days ago I had got the transfer notice from CSC saying that they had move our cases to TX.
I got the cards directly as my lawyer had not sent me the application no. yet. There were no notices for EADs.
More than me, my wife is happy that she wouldn't have to sit around feeling like a "dependent" ;).
I belive my situation is the same as urs....i received mine and my wife I-485 receipts in mail but nothing related to EAD. My case is also transferred to TSC from California on Sep. 17 as my I140 is approved from TSC.
I want to ask u that how long did it take u to get ur EAD card after u received ur I485 receipt and from where ur EAD was issued, is it from CSC or TSC.

in 2005 there was visa recapture for nurese (50,000). Why can not this be done now? They could have simply post information in June saying July Visa bultien revised. Why costing people all this money ? The least the USCIS should do is not to reject all these applications and but them to be processed in Octobor. It's not only miscomunication it's miss managing as well.

Then I thought of what I would do if I were in your situation... I thought of people like Lance Amstrong and many others who have battled hard and have proven doctors wrong.
Like many here suggested, get a 2nd or 3rd opinion.
I hope and pray that you will find that inner determination to fight back.

I called there office but no clue what SKIL bill is about (Washington DC).

We are privy to some information and we were told that Sen. Cornyn might introduce this to the senate today. When we say might, it means that there is a good chance he may not do so too!
And introducing just means that he will get a number assigned to it. It will NOT be debated today. The debate timeframe is decided by the majority and minority leaders Frist and Reid respectively.
We just wanted to share with you what we learned. When we learn more, we will let you guys know. For right now, all we know is in the first post.
And FYI, there are some decent provisions in this bill especially related to STEM. Also presents a solution to retrogression wherein Adjustment of Status would be possible in spite of no visa being available.

unfortunately more than 80% of backlog elemination is completed, so labor substitution even though it is removed from july 16 has already done its damage. scores of people have already done labor substitution.
Do you really believe there are 700K "unique" cases pending.
I think elimination of Labor Substitution would take out atleast half of 700 K pending labors..

Hello All,
After being without job for almost 2 months, I am getting an offer for a short term project on 1099. Project is in my field and my job responsibilites are exactly same as what was approved on my labor. I am a Jul 07 filer.
Now, if in the next few months I get any Employement Verification RFE, what are my options? How can I answer the RFE while on 1099? What kind of documentation will I need? Has anyone successfully answered an EV RFE while on 1099?
OR
Is being on 1099 while on EAD a bad idea and I should stay away from it?
Related questions - I am not planning to file AC21 at this time as this is a short term contract and I don't want to 'notify' USCIS of any changes at this time. Can there be any potential issues of not filing for AC21 in such cases? My EAD will be up for renewal in Sept 2010 and I am hoping to be in a full time permanant position by then.

Nobody is going to promise you more than 6 weeks to 3 months in todays economy. I would say explore the "self employment" option by using EAD. Consult a lawyer and no need to file AC21. Let them find out. Keep looking for better options. All the best!

AFIK, none will get affected. Please look for my earlier posts regarding I485 Derivative application pre-requisites.
I am waiting to hear from IV-core's or forum-attorney�s interpretation.
Chan is right. If interpretation will start the way you are proposing, it will be sheer disaster for people who didn't file I-485 yet.

the state department or the USCIS to forcefully accept 700K applications, and then for next 20 years the dates will be struck. specially for people who have been waiting since 2000,2001 and 2002 cannnot be clubed together with people who came in 2006 or 2007, that is going to be fairly injustice and they know that.
I think it will be better to focus our energy on legislative changes or else nothing will get done, no body can push 700K applications down to the throats of USCIS when that have already exausted the quota.
better focus on contacting senators or house members to get some legislative relief.

You are wrong. There have been lot of changes. Two year EAD for one. And how about EB2 category moving to mid 2006 so most of the EB2 people before that have got GC or will surely get it next year. The only thing that hasn;'t changed is EB3 India. It was stuck in 2001 at that time and still is in 2001. It will crawl to 2002 in the coming year but that's that.
