Hi - I currently have my H1B(H4 for my wife) valid till Mar 2011 and EAD expires on 10/15/08.
Can I skip the renewal process for now and apply for EAD later?
My lawyer says it is OK to skip for now and apply for EAD/AP anytime as long as I-485 is pending.
Please advise.

yes, I want GC for my wife. 6 months to a year addtional wait is ok. Provided I get cleared soon.
Come on, your comment "limbo for five years" without basis. The FB2 cat is not very far behind. Only 6 months - 1 year behind in most cases. check VB.

My primary point is EB dependents must be out of EB quota.
There is no legal basis for them to be in EB quota. period.
If you are USC and then you are talking abou the FB2. Not for the GC holder. So will have to wait for years.

I know many cases like this, people approach these Bodyshoppers to get H1, or to convert H4 to H1..... many pay even H1 processing fees(which is illegal)..... just pray that after getting H1 they will get some project and the employer will pay....... they won't dare to ask employer.... becoz he can just revoke H1 and just be done with it...... many many cases....

I agree with UN's observations.
Many of us in this group doesn't have the wisdom to understand this including me.
However IV core should enlighten members so that they will stop going ahead with agendas that could be detrimental to our common goal. They should let at least the leaders of such efforts know why some of their ideas may be bad.

And guys..lets not fight or critisize each other...initiatives like this are voluntary..if u are convinced, welcome aboard, if not, you are more than welcome to watch it from a distance.
Everyone here is mature enough to know what is right and wrong for them and we should respect it regardless of whether they are in favor of this initiative or not...
For now..we are moving forward...and that's what counts at the end of the day.

My attorney just emailed me, she received receipt notices for 485, EAD and AP for both me and my wife.
My application was received on July 2nd 9:01 AM, if it matters it was signed by R Mickels. Also, there is no LUD change on my I140 application, so I guess LUD changes on I-140 mean nothing.
I have not seen the notices yet so I dont know what the notice dates are.
which center ..am guessing NSC but guys please post the center too

Now after approval, you are equating happiness to how your name appears on the card? Come on.. give me a break.
Look at the big picture that you have the GC approved. All these other things are trivial.

Me and my wife got our physical cards today. Buit the issue is my wife last name hasnt not been changed to my last name. It is still her maiden name. We have requested them while filing for I-485 with our marriage certificate.
We can still live with this but there SSn, Passport everything has been changed to my last name already. even has EAD card had my last name.
Any sugguestion as wat can be done. We r afraid were gettin our green card happiness will take a while now.

Hello Everyone,
My checks were cashed yesterday. My application reached NSC on July 14. My I-140 was also approved from NSC.
I got the receipt numbers from the back of the checks, however when I entered them on the USCIS website, it said that the numbers were invalid. Any idea if I need to wait another day or so before the system will accept them?
